Best pre-workout.  Pre-workout is a powder you mix with water to make a drink to give you a boost of energy before working out.  I have tried many different brands and come to the conclusion that my favorite is Ideal Lean’s pineapple mango.  I also really love Spark (by Advocare) if I blend it up with ice, water, and half of a banana, but I like Ideal Lean better by itself, and it costs half as much.

Best protein powder.  I am not a huge fan of protein powder in general, but it is a great way to add lean protein to your diet (which keeps you full and helps you lose weight).  It’s great to have on the go, or right after a workout to help with muscle recovery.  After trying several different brands, Ideal Lean wins again in my opinion.  It’s more affordable than most protein powders out there and it tastes just as good, if not better.  The carb and calorie to protein ratio is also really good.  There are many flavors to choose from.  I haven’t tried them all yet, but so far my favorites are chocolate, and strawberry.  I was a little disappointed by the caramel mocha flavor.  Alternatively, if you are looking for a clean and/or vegan protein powder, I would suggest trying Ideal Raw.  All of the Ideal products are so reasonably priced.  In my opinion you are getting the best value with them, they have high quality products at lower prices than you usually find.

Best Meal Replacement Shakes.  So recently I was tracking my food using the My Fitness Pal app and I noticed that despite eating healthy foods, I wasn’t getting nearly enough iron (as well as a couple other minerals that aren’t included in multivitamins).  This got me thinking about meal replacement shakes because they are so full of nutrients.  They also help keep you full, which is always a bonus in my book.  I had heard great things about the Ideal Shape shakes so I did some extra research on them and decided to give them a try.  I ordered three tubs and they came with a shaker bottle, their Ideal Shape meal plan, and a smoothie recipe ebook.  The three flavors I ordered are chocolate peanut butter, mint chocolate chip, and their vanilla superfood blend.  The chocolate peanut butter and mint chocolate chip are amazing.  It honestly tastes like dessert just mixed with some unsweetened almond milk.  I have abandoned protein powder altogether for these meal replacement shakes.  With two a day I am getting most of the vitamins and minerals I need, plus they help me satisfy my cravings for something sweet, and they keep me full longer.  I actually really like the meal plan that came with the shakes too, it was a nice bonus.  And as always, I love the Ideal products because they are such a great price for high quality products!

Best workout DVDs.  The best workout DVD for beginners (in my humble opinion) is Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred.  You can read why here.  However, my favorite workout set (the one I just never get sick of doing) is JNL Fusion.  You can read why I love JNL Fusion here.

Essentials.  For most at home workouts you’re going to need a yoga mat and a set of dumbbells.

Books to Inspire You.  My absolute favorite weight loss read is How to Have your Cake and your Skinny Jeans Too.  It’s about eating mindfully.  The author gives you a ton of great research and insights about why your diet always fails.  If you are stuck in the diet cycle of shame you have got to get this book.  If nothing else it will heal the way you look at your “diet failures” and you’ll see it’s not you or your lack of willpower that’s to blame.

My favorite weight loss meal plan.  The program I’m currently using (and loving) for my eating lifestyle, is Trainer Lindsey’s 6 Week Fit Body Challenge.
