Hello and welcome to my health and wellness blog! I created this blog to help and inspire others on their journeys to a healthier, happier life. I am a certified personal trainer, so of course I’m passionate about exercise and fitness, but I am also a firm believer that our minds and souls need daily nourishing as well.
My name is Jill. I love Thai food, a good Netflix binge (but then again, who doesn’t?!), planning things and making lists, and of course relaxing at home with my family. I honestly believe that if I can get fit, anyone can! I am not the girl who loves going hiking and biking, or drinking green smoothies. I am the girl who loves watching TV… and eating junk food (or an entire Chipotle burrito with a large coke) while doing it. While I have grown to love exercise (which came as a huge shock to me), I still struggle with healthy eating and have to work daily on that to maintain my 50 pound weight loss, because let’s be honest, I love food!
Surely I can’t be the only one that feels like they have tried just about every diet and workout plan out there. In my experience I have found that you can lose weight on almost any diet (some more quickly than others), but it’s really all about finding the plan or lifestyle that works for you- one that you can actually maintain without being miserable. After all, if you are miserable on your “diet” then you really aren’t taking care of yourself fully because you’re neglecting your mind and soul! I created Lemonade and Lunges to share some of the insights that I have learned along the way since beginning my health and wellness journey, to hopefully make yours a little easier!
About the Author
If you want to get to know me a little better, here’s a bit more about me and my big, crazy family. I had my two boys just 15 months apart. After having two babies almost back to back, my body was a mess and I was very busy (to say the least). I continued to gain weight after my second son, Noah, was born. It wasn’t until Noah was almost a year and a half that I finally decided I needed to focus on my health. I was at my highest weight and did not feel comfortable in my own skin. That was almost 5 years ago now, and while I have lost 50 pounds, I am yet to reach my final goal (ahem, see above, I love food!).
2016 was a very eventful year for our family. We started the year as a family of 4 (see above). In February we added this cute guy (Bruce) to our family.
And in July we adopted these three beautiful girls (who also happen to be my nieces).
So here we are starting 2017 as a crazy family of seven, eight if you count Bruce (which of course we do)! These five (plus Bruce) keep me pretty busy, along with my portrait photography studio, and this blog, but I wouldn’t have it any other way! Thanks for stopping by.
